Visual Art Inspired by the Bhagawad Gita
Continuing my fascination for the scriptures and mythology, this new series is based on the Bhagavad Gita - the songs of the Lord. These are dialogues between Krishna and Arjuna containing ultimate truths on the relationship between the human and divine. This is a digital art series, The aesthetic is inspired by Company Artwork style, done during the British Era in India. Krishna imagery is based on rustic idol decorations common in North India, where Krishna is popularly worshipped in the Braj region. The battle of Kurukshetra where Krishna is said to have given the discourse of the Bhagawad Gita to Arjuna is also in North India near New Delhi. With the content of the shlokas (scripture) getting increasingly layered with meaning, the Krishna image changes.

Arjuna,
There are two paths.
One of return and the other of no return.

through the path of no return.

Arjuna,
It is in the heart of all things,
that which is worth knowing.
The knowledge itself and that which is reached through knowledge.

Krishna says -
Arjuna,
People worship limited deities.
Limited by their own nature and yearnings. And so the restricted remain restrained, and their worship binds them
to their deities.
Those who surpass these restrains
and rise above these limitations,
discover me, the limitless,
and merge into me.

Krishna says -
Arjuna,
your senses experience
eight parts of my manifested form;
the Five elements,
emotions, intelligence and identity.
Beyond this is my unmanifested form,

About Bhagavad Gita
Bhagavad Gita is the essence of all Vedic knowledge and one of the most important scriptures in Vedic literature.
An ancient sacred text of India, it is regarded universally as the prime source of spiritual knowledge and inspiration for the humankind. The Bhagavad Gita’s seven hundred verses provide a definitive guide to the science of self-realization. No other book reveals, in such a lucid and profound way, truths like the Bhagavad Gita does. The Bhagavad Gita which is also known as the Divine Song is unique in many ways and although it originated in Hindu scriptures it has found popularity across cultures and religions. Gita was originally written in classical Sanskrit, and till date, it is translated into approximately 175 languages.
